Commissioners to Consider New Ambulance District Service Plan

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

                                                                                                                                                            

IN RE THE SERVICE PLAN FOR NORTH FORK AMBULANCE HEALTH SERVICE DISTRICT, 

COUNTY OF DELTA, STATE OF COLORADO

                                                                                                                                                            

     PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that there has been filed with the County of Delta, Colorado (the “County”), a Service Plan (the “Service Plan”) for the proposed North Fork Ambulance Health Service District (the “District”).  The Service Plan is on file at Delta County, 501 Palmer Street, Delta, Colorado 81416 and is also available for inspection through the link below.

     NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners (the “Board”) will hold a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. or soon thereafter, on Monday, the 25th day of June, 2018, at 501 Palmer Street, Room 236, Delta, Colorado 81416 for the purpose of considering approval of the Service Plan and to form a basis for a resolution approving, disapproving or conditionally approving the Service Plan.  If the Service Plan is approved by the Board, the proponents intend to present the question of organization of the North Fork Ambulance Health Service District to voters at the regular election to be held on November 6, 2018 (the “Election”).

     The North Fork Ambulance Association (the “Ambulance Association”) is currently the only agency providing Emergency Medical Service in the North Fork Valley.  The Ambulance Association Board has determined that the establishment of a health service district is the most effective way to ensure funding for the necessary ambulance services to the community while maintaining the response times and preserving the professionalism and high standard of care that the Ambulance Association is currently providing.  Funding to support the District’s operations will come from an expected maximum levy of 5.75 mills, subject to the terms presented to voters at the Election.

     The District’s initial boundaries consist of approximately 1,550 square miles located in Delta, Gunnison and Montrose Counties.  As shown on the map of the District that is a part of the Service Plan, the District is generally located beginning at Hotchkiss and extending west on Highway 92 to Payne Siding and east on Highway 133 to Paonia; from Paonia the District continues north up Stephen’s Gulch to the Mesa County Line and northeast of Paonia on Highway 133 into Gunnison County through Somerset to the top of McClure Pass; the Districts extends southeast from Hotchkiss on Highway 92 through Crawford and into Montrose County, and runs to Mile Marker 56 at the Gunnison County Line on Black Mesa.  A precise description of the boundaries of the District is on file with the County as part of the Service Plan.
